Walking Safaris in Greater Kruger National Park -(South Africa)
| Every walk is a book on it's own, with
emphasis on information - whether more or fewer animals are seen. However,
we do realize that you are here to see wildlife, and an open 4x4 safari
vehicle is used for viewing and photographic opportunities. Game drives are
combined with an afternoon walk and night drive before returning to camp for
dinner Scheduled walking safari packages are offered
3 times per week - every Monday, Wednesday and Friday. A maximum of 8 guests
make up a trail, for safety reasons and ease of movement on the walks, to
any one of the 4 camps. Incoming safaris meet fellow adventurers at a bush
pub for lunch and a briefing before departing by open safari vehicles to
their respective camps. |

An armed, experienced guide accompanies each trail. Average fitness is required
for the walks as they can last up to 4 hours. Neutral colored clothing and
comfortable walking shoes are a must.
THE AREAS
We operate in the Klaserie and Timbavati private game reserves in the greater
Kruger area ,adjacent to the Kruger National Park, with a few off our camps in
each of these areas.

ITINERARIES
The itineraries of the safaris are very similar, just each day adding on to your
time in the bush and your chances of seeing that favorite animal, bird, insect
or snake! Each trail changes over to another camp in a different Reserve halfway
the trail, including a 2,5 hour game drive through the Greater Kruger NP. Walks
and drives are conducted in the early mornings, late afternoons and at night,
avoiding the African heat and moving along with the animals.

ITINERARY
4/5/6 DAY WALKING SAFARI On the day of departure you will be collected from your hotel at first light and transferred to the reserve gate. The journey takes approximately 5 hours with stops along the way. You will meet your ranger at a lovely bush pub at the edge of the reserves, where you will sign the indemnity forms and have lunch together. After lunch, we transfer you into open safari vehicles to one of our bush camps in Klaserie or Timbavati Private Nature Reserve, making sure that you spend the maximum time out in the bush! In the mornings we set off at first light after a snack breakfast of rusks and coffee or tea. Enjoying the cool morning air we may walk directly from camp or else use a vehicle to get further out. Your ranger will decipher the tracks and signs left by the passing animals during the night. The thrill of walking, tracking and getting up close to one of the creatures of the bush is an unforgettable experience. On the walks there is a lot of emphasis on all of nature’s wonders, big and small, such as trees, plants, insects and birds. |

A big breakfast is prepared back in camp and
then there is time to unwind and siesta or spot some birds around the camp.
After lunch is served it is time to head out again.
The afternoon activity is a walk/ drive combination,
looking for tracks and activity in other areas. Back in camp a hearty supper and a warm campfire will be waiting for you. After a long day in the bush there is nothing more rewarding then to sneak off to bed and listen to the sounds of the night under a blanket of the overwhelming African stars! |
On the day of departure you will still go out for one last walk. Sniffing the typical scents of the bush you’ll realize how much you’ve learned already! After breakfast it’s time to pack up and go back to the bush pub, where you will pay the Conservation Fee and the drinks you’ve consumed in our camps. Then we say our goodbyes and transfer you back to the city. Hopefully till we meet again! THE BUSH CAMPS The camps are small, intimate and open to the environment. Accommodation consists of 2-person walk-in tents with beds and linen - ablution facilities are separate. Dining/kitchen areas are serviced by a chef who provides you with 3 wholesome meals a day, Brunch, Lunch and dinner. Teas/coffees and cereals are provided before the morning walks. A limited range of cold drinks and beverages are available. |
