An Overland Expedition is a journey along a suggested route aimed at the more adventurous and budget-conscious traveler. It is off the beaten track, and many of the areas visited do not have  the infrastructure that the package tourist may require. The route taken may also vary from time to time due to various factors. Our groups number up to about twenty people from all walks of life, of various nationalities: most of the guests are from Europe, Australia, New Zealand and the USA. Although there are often couples and groups of friends who have booked together, most guests are single and the male / female mix generally works out even.

All of our scheduled departures are participation trips, it is very important that guests have a positive attitude and are prepared to put in their fair share to various activities. Joining us is what turns a great trip into an unforgettable journey. With the right attitude we can guarantee that guests will get the most of their overland experience! Experience has shown us that our overland trips are unsuitable for the majority of people outside the 18 - 55 age bracket.

We do however accept people older than 55 years in some cases - subject to individual operator regulations. Our office will be able to supply more information on request. The vehicles are well stocked at the beginning of the expedition, and food is regularly restocked from stores and markets along the way. Although we make no special provision for vegetarians, we have found in the past that this is not a major problem as fruit and vegetables are fairly easy to obtain along the way. Guests are divided into cooking teams by our crew, and they will give some guidance if cooking skills are lacking! Although most of our evening meals are cooked over an open fire, we also carry stoves. We supply all cooking equipment, crockery and cutlery. We usually use camp sites along the way, with running water and basic facilities. Longer trips may provide the opportunity to "bush camp" in a wild area with no facilities at all! We provide large dome tents and camping chairs, but no sleeping bags or mattresses. We do hire these items out - contact us for more details. Our vehicles have plenty of packing space, but please keep your total luggage to about 12kg (26lbs). A medium sized backpack is fine. We custom build our trucks to suit their application:- large windows for game and scenery viewing, spacious interiors, large enclosed baggage packing areas, comfortable coach style forward facing seats, large water tanks and fully equipped kitchens. Most of our trucks have Mercedes Benz diesel engines, providing more than ample power for all situations.
