Hoopoe was originally founded in 1988 in Tanzania, and now has offices in Arusha, London and Nairobi. Peter Lindstrom was born and raised in East Africa and speaks the Swahili language fluently. It had always been his ambition to operate safaris in the land he understood and loved so well - and this became a dream fulfilled when he joined forces with Stephen Laiser, of the noble Maasai Tribe, who had spent many years with the Tanzania National Parks, rising to command the Ranger force before forming Hoopoe.

This essential background, knowledge and experience, coupled with a love of nature, beauty, culture, a deep respect for the environment and a sociable spirit - is what has earned Hoopoe so many friends!!
Back in London, our UK Booking Office makes communication easy and good advice is freely given from our expert travel consultants, Carrie Maestas and Rupert Finch Hatton, to whom Africa is a second home.

They work in tandem with Terri Rice in the Arusha Office, who has spent much of her life 'in the bush' filming and photographing the animals with the world's top professionals, and our vastly experienced Hilder Mollel who makes sure all is in order.
