The Zambian Spice Trail (8 Days)

 

Day 1:

A Star of Africa representative will meet you and transfer you to the lodge, situated on the northern edge of the Mosi Oa Tunya Park, which is best known for its giraffe and white rhino but also boasts buffalo, zebra, sable, eland, wildebeest, transitory elephant and many other species. Our Lodge is situated on the northern edge of the Park, where luxurious tree houses hide discreetly amongst giant ebony trees on a sweeping bend of the Zambezi River.
 

During the next two days your activities will include: game drives with experienced guides, visits to the Falls themselves, curio shopping and as optional extras, a choice of all the ‘adrenaline’ activities for which the Falls is famous. OVERNIGHT SUSSI & CHUMA

Day 2:  A second day of excitement and romance on the banks of Africa’s most spectacular river. OVERNIGHT SUSSI & CHUMA

Day 3:

Depart by charter flight to the magnificent World Heritage Wetlands site of Lochinvar National Park. The transfer takes approximately 45 minutes. From here you can explore the vast wetlands noted for the thousands of endemic Kafue lechwe and other classic plains game. However the real drawcard is the birdlife; it’s a birdwatcher’s paradise with 428 recorded species. OVERNIGHT LECHWE PLAINS

Day 4:

A day for further exploration of the floodplains and surrounds. Other places of interest are the Gwisho hotsprings and Sebanzi Hill, the site of Stone Age habitation and a later Iron Age village.

Day 5:

Depart after breakfast for your flight to Lower Zambezi National Park (approx. 1 hour) and Kulefu Tented Camp. The Park is a water wilderness area on the banks of the mighty Zambezi River. There are many options available in this area. Walk under the guidance of your professional guide or game drive in an open safari vehicle. Game viewing on the water along the banks of the Zambezi.

Day 6:

An early morning game viewing opportunity by canoe. Paddle the tranquil waters along the banks of the Zambezi River viewing hippo pods or herds of buffalo and elephant as they come down to drink. Game viewing can also be by Jet Boat. Further game viewing opportunities may be taken during the day.


OVERNIGHT KULEFU TENTED CAMP

Day 7:

Depart after breakfast by private charter for your flight to Mfuwe. On arrival at Mfuwe the transfer to the lodge of your choice is a game drive through the park and takes approximately one hour. The Park is noted for its big game species particularly Leopard, Lion and Elephant and a whole host of antelope species.

OR PUKU RIDGE

Experts have called South Luangwa one of the greatest wildlife sanctuaries in the world. Concentrations of game around the Luangwa River and its ox-bow lagoons are dramatic. In addition the topography of the area makes it ideal for walking safaris. The Park is noted for its big game species particularly leopard, lion and elephant and a whole host of antelope species.

Day 8:

Another day spent walking and driving in this special sanctuary.
 

OVERNIGHT CHICHELE PRESIDENTIAL LODGE
OR PUKU RIDGE

Day 9:

Transfer back to Mfuwe for your flight to Lusaka International airport and onward connections.

All normal Star of Africa booking conditions pertain
A limit of 12kg ‘soft-sided’ baggage
Star of Africa takes no responsibility for cancelled or delayed flights

INCLUSIONS:
All meals, laundry, soft drinks, local wine and beer.
