"Wild
Nights in the Selous"
(7 Days)
|
Visiting the Selous is a far
cry from almost any other park in Africa. For here you are always
conscious of the huge tract of wild Africa that surrounds you. The lodges
are all unique but it’s the walking and fly-camping that undoubtedly cast
the strongest spell. Days are spent on foot exploring old elephant paths
and evenings in the open, at a camp-fire with an uninterrupted cacophony
of African calls all around you. (Please note that the days in the Selous may be switched around so that you spend your first night at the main camp, then two nights fly-camping and then the last night back at the main camp). |

Day 3 and
4 Selous Game Reserve After breakfast you’ll depart the fixed camp and head out into the bush on a walking/camping safari for the following two days. The daily routines are fairly similar to that of the fixed camp, however the focus here will be more on the daily walking activity. Please note that days are designed around local game movements and guest’s requirements. Overnight at the fly-camp on a full board basis plus activities. |
| Camping Fly-camps are always temporary, set up as requested in remote corners of the park. Ideal for two to six guests, the emphasis is on walking and tracking animals through forests, vleis and along the sandy shores of meandering rivers. It’s a magical experience but not for everyone, as tents are simple though comfortable and animals wander around camp at night. There are hot bucket-showers and toilet facilities are ‘long-drop’ style. With all its bush charm, most people find fly-camping a very enriching experience. |
