"A Pioneer Safari"

On Pioneer Safaris, a philosophy of partially serviced camping exists with tin styles, thus setting the tone for an adventurous but comfortable wilderness experience. Each large 3m x 3m Dome Tent is fully furnished with comfortable camp stretchers and bedrolls (with pure cotton linen), a bedside table (with 12v electricity) and two small luggage racks. Each camp has two separate flushing toilet systems and two hot water bucket shower systems. Amenities and towels are also provided. Camp is lit with hurricane lanterns and has a 5m x 5m dining area, set with metal director chairs and tables with linen tablecloths. Experience an old-style serviced camping safari, which recreates a sense of pureadventure for the traveller seeking an authentic safari. Pioneer Safaris provide fully serviced spacious tents, styled to provide elegant comfort in the ultimate wild camping game safari.

This is a serviced camping safari, suitable for reasonably fit people. Involves some hiking and rugged conditions. This safari travels with a maximum of seven guests, in a specially customized 4x4 safari vehicle, and accompanied by an expert CC Africa safari guide throughout. All meals – from dinner on day one to breakfast on day ten – are included. A reasonable amount of bottled water, local wine, beer and soft drinks are included on camping days. Airport transfers at Victoria Falls are also included. Window seat guaranteed throughout. The upper age limit for this safari is 70 years, however, clients between the age of 70 and 75 years may be accepted provided that they produce a medical certificate stating that they are fit to travel. Minimum age limit is 12 years.

The route encompasses the Okavango Delta, Moremi Wildlife Reserve, Chobe National Park and Victoria Falls. Regular departures operate in both directions between Maun and Victoria Falls. Several of the departures have been set so as to facilitate combining the Botswana Explorer safari with the Kalahari / Okavango Venture (15 Day Parks of Botswana.

Sefofane Airlines Botswana DAYS 1 & 2: MAUN, OKAVANGO DELTA

From Maun we transfer by small planes into the heart of the delta. Here we take out "mokoro" (dugout canoes) to explore the crystal clear channels, islands and waterways, and undertake game viewing walks on the islands. Our two overnights are spent at our Afro Ventures campsite in a private concession area, with a complement of camp staff to cater for you.

DAYS 3 & 4: MOREMI GAME RESERVE

After our return flight to Maun we negotiate the sandy tracks to Moremi - tucked into the north-eastern sector of the Okavango. The reserve was set aside in 1963 by the Batawana tribe, and is rated as Africa’s most beautiful wildlife sanctuary. Our days are spent on extensive game viewing drives. Camping out in Moremi Game Reserve.

DAYS 5, 6, 7 & 8: CHOBE NATIONAL PARK

We travel up to Savute and spend two nights camped next to the dry Savute Channel. From November to July huge animal concentrations are attracted to this area, and Savute is excellent for lion and other predator viewing. From Savute we move up to northern Chobe and camp for two nights at Serondela on the Chobe river.

This is the heart of elephant country and here we have an opportunity to spend many hours watching the huge herds in and around the waters of the Chobe River. Northern Chobe has beautiful scenery and magnificent sunsets, with a large variety of bird and animal life. At certain times of the year we may overnight at different areas of Chobe National Park. Camping in Chobe National Park.

DAY 9: VICTORIA FALLS

It’s a short drive from Chobe to Victoria Falls, one of the world’s most awe-inspiring sights. Our stay here is always welcomed as a chance to wash off Botswana’s dust, relax over a cold beer, and enjoy the varied entertainment and facilities at Victoria Falls. Your entrance fee to the falls is included in the safari fare. The evening meal is at your own expense.

Overnight accommodation is at the Rainbow Hotel on a bed and breakfast basis. (Lunch and dinner today is for your own account.)

DAY 10: VICTORIA FALLS

After breakfast at the hotel, the safari ends.
