Voyager Safari Camp (Ziwani)
Tsavo West (Kenya)

Location:

Situated in the shadow of the majestic Mt. Kilimanjaro, between Amboseli Game Reserve, Mombasa and Tsavo West National Park, Voyager Safari Camp is the perfect peaceful retreat for a few days break. Standing on the edge of a small man made dam on the Tsavo River, this tranquil setting offers the visitor the chance to observe a large variety of bird life, and to hear and view the resident hippos and large crocodiles.
   
Voyager Safari Camp can be approached from Nairobi by driving to Mtito Andei and then turning into Tsavo West and heading 87 Kms across the park to the Ziwani Gate, just outside of which, is Voyager Safari Camp. Alternatively from Mombasa one can drive to Voi and then take the road to Taveta turning off into the park through the Maktau Gate and heading to Voyager Safari Camp. 

Getting there by road Voyager Safari Camp is approximately 4½hr drive from Nairobi and 3 hours from Mombasa.

Accommodation:

A total of 20 tents are available 16 being on the south side of the river and 4 on the north side. All tents are ensuite and face the Tsavo river. The atmosphere is rustic but comfortable giving one a true African bush experience.

Facilities:

The main building overlooking the dam, Houses the bar and dining room with a long verandah where breakfast is served. In the evening the candle lit tables are arranged on the lawn, (weather permitting), guests dine under the African night sky, within the close-proximity of the crackling camp fire.

Entertainment:

Tribal dancers from the Masai and Wakamba people provide exciting cultural entertainment in the evenings.

Exciting night game drives are undertaken during which nocturnal animals are seen, such as galgoes (bush baby), grazing hippos, and even some elusive cats such as leopard, civet and serval. Morning game walks are organised by the Resident Naturalist along with the company of a park ranger, returning in time for a hearty full English breakfast, having seen nature closer at hand.

Gift Boutique:

There is a new boutique offering a variety of purchases from postcards to exotic carved African Masks, where every traveler can find something of taste to their liking. Other necessities are also available.

Other Services:

Laundry service is provided and other tent services such as early morning tea, through arrangement with the headwaiter. Foreign exchange facilities are available at the reception. In addition the following credit cards are accepted: Visa, Master Card and American Express.

Climate:

Generally warm 22° C - 34°C with a low humidity especially outside the rainy season which is mainly April to June. The evenings and early mornings can be cool especially when it is windy, so a jersey or light anorak is necessary.
