WILDERNESS SAFARIS - Toka Leya Camp

Location:

Overlooking the mighty Zambezi River and some of its islands, under a shady canopy of jackalberry and waterberry trees lies Toka Leya.

The islands in front of camp are intriguing and part of the braided channel of the Zambezi with some rapids, a main channel and fringing dense vegetation.

Accommodation:

The camp consists of 12 safari-style tents, each en-suite with a view of the magnificent Zambezi River and some of its islands.

Tent details:

12 safari-style tents – en-suite with baths, indoor and outdoor showers.
Soaps, shampoo, body lotion, washing powder (for smalls), insect repellent and torches are supplied in each tent.

The camp's dining and bar area is set beneath a shaded canopy of trees overlooking the River and a swimming pool. BAR
Camp offers a fully stocked bar with a good selection of wine.

All local drinks are included in the nightly tariff, with the exception of premium wines and champagne, and premium liqueurs and spirits.

24-hour electricity is available and a small diesel generator available for back up.
Potable water to the camp comes from a borehole
Fans have 24-hour power.
Same-day laundry facility is available and is included in the nightly tariff.

Dining and bar area are under a canopy of trees overlooking the Zambezi River.
Dinners are served on the deck overlooking the Zambezi River or in the dining room.

Activities:

The Victoria falls is one of the seven "Wonders of the World" and is arguably the greatest waterfall anywhere. Daily excursions to the Falls are a highlight and boating trips to the Zambezi River's islands provide wonderful activities.

Game drives into the Mosi-oa-Tunya Park are productive with an abundance of general game species like buffalo, giraffe, zebra, wildebeest and impala. There is rich birdlife here too, including several sought-after species such as African Finfoot, Half-collared Kingfisher, African Skimmer (seasonal), Schalow's Turaco and Rock Pratincole (seasonal). For bird enthusiasts there are leisurely strolls from camp, boat cruises and island walks.

The Zambezi River offers ample fishing opportunities and tiger fishing is an unforgettable challenge for keen fishermen, particularly during the warmer months. There are several varieties of bream (Tilapia) that are also a good catch. For the more sporting, try catching them on fly!
