Lodge in Southern Africa.)

Location:

Set in the Sabi Sands Game Reserve adjacent to the the Kruger National Park, Sabi Sabi Game Reserve is ecologically and geographically linked to the world famous Kruger National Park.

Sabi Sabi Private Game Reserve comprises of the most desirable tracts of unfenced big game country in the exclusive proclaimed Sabi Sabi Game Reserve, within the Southern section of the Kruger National Park.

Consistent unsurpassed game viewing has earned Sabi Sabi worldwide acclaim and recognition.

The reserve is blessed with a great diversity of habitat and wildlife giving you an excellent chance of experiencing close encounters with the ‘Big 5’ - elephant, rhino, buffalo, lion and leopard as well as wild dog, cheetah, zebra, giraffe and all species indigenous to the area, in their natural unfenced environment.

With over 350 bird species, Sabi Sabi is a bird watchers paradise.

Sabi Sabi’s philosophy is based on two principles:-

The first is the need to conserve our rapidly dwindling wilderness areas and to provide a sanctuary for fauna and flora as part of our heritage.

The second is the belief that the only way a wildlife sanctuary can survive the onslaught of socio-economic pressures is by employing labor, earning foreign currency, paying tax and promoting sustainable tourism. Failure to do so would inevitably make it ‘available land’ for agriculture or commercial development.

Linking eco-tourism, conservation and community!

Selati Lodge:

Imagine the Africa of the great safari era, when blazing sunsets melted into lantern lit romance and service was an effortless whisper. This is the Africa you will experience at Sabi Sabi, an award winning luxury game lodge in South Africa.

During the 1870's, high in the crevices of the Drakensberg escarpment which rises to the west of Sabi Sabi, gold was discovered. To transport the gold, the parliament of the Old Transvaal Republic commissioned a railway line from the interior to Delagoa Bay in Mozambique. A branch railway, known as the Selati Line, crossed the Sabi Sand Wildtuin.

Today the line is disused but the old railbed can still be seen in the north-eastern section of Sabi Sabi, close to Selati Camp, the perfect accommodation for travellers looking for a luxury game lodge in South Africa. Sabi Sabi's intimate all-suite Selati Camp, furnished with a historic Railway theme and 19th century charm, meticulously created as an authentic home in the bush, is the most unforgettable of all African experiences. The railway theme extends from original steam engine name plates, signals and other memorabilia in the lounge, to collector's pieces in each room and shunter's lamps lighting the way to your suite.
Originally created without electricity to preserve the ambience, Selati Camp now has overhead fans, air-conditioning and all the trimmings expected from a luxury game lodge. The camp is still lit at night by the gentle flicker of oil lamps, the warm glow of fires and the spectacular canopy of the Southern night sky.

This exclusive South African lodge comprises eight opulent thatched suites, each with full bathroom en-suite and private alfresco shower, blend perfectly into the surrounding bush. Home-cooked cuisine is served on decks built over the river-bed, in the open air "boma" or in the "farmhouse kitchen". The premier accommodation Selati Camp is the sumptuous and spacious Ivory Presidential Suite, which is a favourite amongst honeymooners.
