The Outpost Trails Camp
Kruger National Park-(South Africa)

Location:

Situated in the Makuleke Region in the northernmost part of Kruger National Park, The Outpost rests high on a hill overlooking the flood plains of the Limpopo and Luvuvhu rivers. This region, formerly known as the Pafuri region, is in the northernmost part of Kruger National Park and is bordered to the north by the Limpopo and Zimbabwe and to the East by Crooks Corner and Zimbabwe.

Accommodations:

Guests are accommodated in 12 stand-alone en suite rooms that are placed alongside a walkway half way up a hill overlooking the Luvuvhu River.

The rooms are essentially of modern design with foldaway glass sides and frontage offering 180-degree views of the Luvuvhu River Valley. The open feel of the rooms is extended into the bathroom where guests are afforded a view which extends as far as Mozambique.

Michelin Chef Robert Bowman is in charge of the kitchen at The Outpost. Notwithstanding its remote location, The Outpost strives to provide excellent cuisine.

The style of food reflects its African surroundings. Care is taken to source the best produce whether available locally or whether it is flown in fresh from Johannesburg.

Game Viewing / Activities:

Guests are woken by the sounds of beating drums, and tea / coffee and rusks are served in the tents. Activities include early morning and afternoon and evening game drives in open 4x4 drive vehicles.

During the morning game drive, guests are normally taken on a walk as well (we normally try to find some interesting spoor and track the animals, under the guidance of an armed ranger). This is dependant on the guests wanting to walk and is adjusted according to the group.

During game drives refreshments are usually served at a scenic spot, particularly at sunset when the view from the Mowhareng Hills is spectacular! After the morning drive, a huge breakfast is served and guests can either relax at the pool or take a walk with one of the rangers, or otherwise relax in the hide at the water hole next to the camp. Lunch is served mid-afternoon and dinner is served in the boma after the evening game drive, which comprises a 3-course meal with a choice of main courses.
