Location:

Looking out over the seemingly endless Serengeti plains, this hillside lodge is a tranquil oasis set in over 14,000 sq kms (5,000 sq miles) of National Park.

The Serengeti plains are host to a dramatic annual migration of hundreds of thousands of wildebeest and numerous other species of animals indigenous to the area.

Accommodation / Facilities:

Opened in 1992, the lodge can accommodate 170 guests in 79 suites, each enjoying wall-to-wall carpeting, a private lounge with a mini bar, a bedroom with two queen size beds and ample room for a third, an en-suite bathroom with shaver sockets and a hair dryer, and a private verandah which offers stunning views over the plains.

The lodge has direct-dial satellite telephone facilities as well as satellite television and wildlife-video-film options.
A number of lodge electrical generating systems provide 240volts, 50 cycles 24 hours a day.

Our water supply comes from nearby springs but guests are advised not to drink from the taps. Instead, complimentary bottled mineral water is provided in the mini bars while further stocks are available for sale in the main bar.

We welcome kids of all ages and can provide both special meals at convenient times and baby sitters on request. 
Our guest shop stocks a wide selection of curios, gift items, clothing, film, sweets, postcards, personal requisites and toiletries, while the other offers gemstones, jewelry and other more unusual items.

The double size pool offers a refreshing interlude between game drives as well as wonderful views over the rolling plains of the Serengeti. Also, we can supply diesel and can carry out most minor repairs. T

he lodge has a 350 sq meter (3,000 sq feet) conference room as well as other designated areas for conferences, presentations, cocktail parties and private functions which can host upwards of 120 guests.

Over and above this we can provide and cater for any size of birthday or anniversary party, bush breakfasts, lunches or BBQ's, sundowner cocktail parties, gala dinners or theme evenings.

Game Viewing /Activities:

The annual migration of over a million wildebeest and other plains game is the highlight of any visitors safari. From December to May the migration gathers in the immediate vicinity of the lodge and provides a rare, never-to-be-forgotten spectacle.

A hot-air balloon safari across the plains of the Serengeti is an experience not to be missed. Take-off is at dawn and the flight lasts for an hour before a sumptuous champagne breakfast wherever you land. This is followed by a game drive back to the lodge, arriving in time for lunch.

The wildlife defines the Serengeti - countless Zebra, Buffalo, Gazelle, Wildebeest and other species make it their home. Big game feed in full view of the lodge itself. Balloon safaris are an optional excursion.

Game drives are a highlight at Serengeti Sopa Lodge! Enjoy sundowner cocktails by the pool... In the evening, traditional dancers perform for the enjoyment of the guests. Daily slide presentations are also held daily by the resident naturalist.
