The New Premiere Luxury
Lodge Of Kenya's Masai Mara Safari Game Park
Welcome to the Masai Mara,
recently designated as one of the Seven Wonders of the World. The Royal Mara
Safari Lodge is situated directly on the wildebeest "Great Migration" route,
near the two world famous wildebeest migratory Mara River crossing points
and near Leopard Gorge, all made internationally known by the BBC's Big Cat
Diary television program.
We are located on the popular
Hippo Bend Lagoon of the Mara River, amongst several elephant, buffalo and
giraffe herds, and with close proximity to several lion prides, including
the "Maternity", Musiara Marsh, "Aitong", and Ridge prides. Given our
position in the richest game section of the Masai Mara, the Western Masai
Mara, our guests are in the best location to most readily discover the Big
Five mammals. Thousands of wildlife documentaries and countless millions of
photographs stand testament to this timeless corner of the world. |

Activities - Unforgettable Bonding With
Unspoiled Nature
Bring good walking shoes and take a walking safari with us. Feel the
wildnerness, smell the air and leave your footprint in the ground.
There is nothing more exhilarating than the thrill of seeing big
game on foot. Game walks are conducted in high density wildlife
areas of the Masai Mara in the company of Maasai guides and armed
guards at a comfortable pace with intermittent stops.
If you are a bird enthusiast you will be thrilled with the wide
selection of birds visible in the Royal Mara area. Our marsh and
lagoon areas attract a caravan of varied wildfowl and raptor birds.
Bird safaris on foot or by 4WD can also be arranged to explore the
open savannah or other nearby marshes.
Meet the local Maasai community on a cultural excursion. The Maasai
eagerly welcome guests into their homes to show their lifestyle and
culture. Visit the local school and meet pioneer teachers who
struggle to bring education to the bush.
Relax in our lounge area anytime throughout the day. Enjoy reading
one of our library books with photos of African wildlife or of the
Maasai people. In the afternoon we offer tea time refreshments with
a selection of biscuits, scones, croissant or finger sandwiches.
Throughout the day you can enjoy a cooling fruit drink or a
refreshing soft drink. |

Game Drives - Enjoy
Unparalleled Wildlife Viewing As Seen On The Discovery Channel,
Animal Planet, National Geographic, and the BBC.
There is no better place in Africa to witness the Big Five than here
at the Masai Mara. Our game drives take you to the most unique spots
of the Masai Mara. Meet the large "Maternity" pride near the Royal
Mara. Visit nearby Leopard Gorge seen regularly on the BBC Big Cat
Diary program and you may run into Zawadi ("Shadow"), the world
famous leopard.
Take a drive to "Rainbow Hill" and enjoy a game
walk with white rhino. If you prefer black rhino take a drive to the
BBC famous Rhino Ridge where they periodically migrate from the
Serengeti. En route stop by the BBC filmed Musiara Marsh and you may
run into some cheetah. Or if it is elephant or buffalo herds you
prefer you need not go too far. They usually graze outside the Royal
Mara and visit our camp waterhole daily.
Enjoy game drives in our new 4WD Toyota
Landcruisers conducted by expert certified guides. Watch
breathtaking savannah sunsets from specially selected scenic viewing
points on an afternoon game drive highlighted by our complimentary

Night Game Drives -
Share The Exotic Side of Savannah Wild Life
Experience the thrill of a night game drive when predators are most
active. It is unlawful to conduct night game drives within the
boundaries of the National Reserve. Camps that wish to take their
guests on night game drives do so in the Koyiaki conservation area,
under the watchful eye of patrolling Koyiaki rangers. Given our
ideal location in the Koyiaki conservation area our guests are
afforded virtually unlimited opportunities and excitement to witness
the Mara by moonlight -- even after dinner.
Watch lions on the prowl while packs of hyena trail close behind,
anxious to steal as many lion kills as possible. Observe nocturnal
aardvark, serval cats, caracals, bush babies, dik-dik and more. Our
night drives are conducted with adequate special lighting as well as
night vision binoculars. If you prefer nearby excitement, take a
night walk to our waterhole under armed escort, and wait to see what
oddities may decide to pay a visit.

BALLOON SAFARIS
| BORNE ON THE BREEZE
ACROSS THE GREAT PLAINS The adventure begins just before dawn.
Flames from the balloon burners light the darkness as the crews
inflate their craft. The first, pink tongues of sunlight flicker
across the skies and the balloon fills then rises. Suspended in a
basket beneath the rainbow-colored canopy, you’re off for a
game-viewing adventure with an entirely different perspective. The
thing that amazes most first-time balloonists is the absolute
stillness, the silence as you float above the plains, the forest and
the rivers of the Masai Mara . And if you’ve flown elsewhere, you’ve
seen nothing like this. The sounds below drift clearly upwards: a
lion’s roar, elephants crashing through the bush, baboons perched in
the tips of the trees startled and screeching to see something above
them. For an hour or so you drift wherever the air currents take
you. If you’re lucky you’ll climb high above the Mara for the view
of a lifetime. Then your balloon safari finishes with a flourish. In
the time honored tradition of balloon flights the world over you
toast your return to earth with a champagne breakfast. The
difference this breakfast happens in the bush, wherever you land,
and it’s cooked before your eyes on the burners that minutes before
kept you suspended in the air. We have some of the world’s most experienced
pilots flying some of the world’s largest balloons. And our
distinctive colors are known the world-over! |
