The camp lies in the cusp of a forested valley beside a spring with extensive views across three reserves. As the camp is situated in a private concession it provides exclusivity rarely found in the Mara.

The Cottar’s family are synonymous with safari tradition and operated the very first photographic safari in E. Africa in 1919, Cottar’s 1920s is their flagship camp.

Accommodation:

Spacious white canvas tents further add to the authenticity, luxuriously furnished with original safari antiques from the early 20th century. Each tent has private en-suite dressing room, bathroom, livings room, main bedroom and private verandah.

Additionally, each tent has its own private butler. The camp is equipped with a tented library/reading room and the cuisine and silver service is of the highest standard to be found in the bush.

What the Press have said...

Romance full of pedigree and promise… You do not have to confine yourselves to the set-piece safari routine but you go where the mood the wind, the animals, the migration takes you. It seemed for all the world as if we had Africa to ourselves

Lucia van der Post, Financial Times, 12 December, 1998

Although there are a few luxury safari outfits, this is easily the most atmospheric. It harks back to the era of hunters such as Denys Finch-Hatton, when safaris were undertaken in grand style.

Tim Beddow for Vogue (UK), September, 1998.

Over the years, Cottar’s has guided royalty, sports figures, assorted tycoons, and scores of more down-to-earth type on safaris completely tailored to meet their needs and desires. This ecologically correct adventure re-creates all the glamour and style of a classic safari

John Frederick Walker in Bloomburg Magazine, Dec 98.
